Ravens players if they truly feel that Ray Rice shouldn’t be on the team should come out publicly and state it. No need to try to sugarcoat it or try to run from it.
A player text Bleacher Report’s Mike Freeman and had this to say.
I had a brief text conversation with a Ravens player I’ve known for some time who told me that the locker room before stood by Rice. Now?
“I don’t think he has very much support now at all,” the player texted. “I think it’s gone.”
The player added that one reason the locker room stood behind Rice was because Rice gave them the impression that he was defending himself from her (as ridiculous as the notion is of a weaponless, petite woman being a threat to a pro athlete). The video, the player said, betrays what Rice told players.
Video trumps all and even though the NFL and teams have looked the other way at domestic violence offenders in the past (plenty on NFL rosters), they can’t overlook this.
I’d be surprised if Ray Rice ever plays in the NFL again.
