Two weeks into the NFL season, and there might not be a bigger surprise in the league (on the field at least) than the 0-2 New Orleans Saints. After losing a thriller in Atlanta to open up the season, the Saints went up to Cleveland and were upset by Brian Hoyer and the Browns.
While historically 0-2 teams have a difficult time making the playoffs, the Saints and their quarterback Drew Brees aren’t panicking according to Saints media.
“It is very easy to lose in the way that we’ve lost. You can point to one play in each of these games. We were one play away in each of these games from being 2-0 as opposed to 0-2. That hurts. It’s frustrating. I know how hard we work.” Brees said, “Obviously, the expectation level coming into it, but now we’ve just got to bear down, stay together and understand that if you keep doing things the right way, good things are going to happen. We just need to break the seal. We just need to get our first win and I’m confident things will get rolling from there.”
Can’t really blame Brees for not panicking too much so far. Two road losses by a combined five points is tough, but not a death-blow to the Saints playoff chances. Now, a loss at home to the Vikings this weekend would definitely push New Orleans into full-on panic mode.
