The Philadelphia Eagles will face DeSean Jackson for the first time since his cutting him in the offseason.
The No. 1 topic of discussion since that time has been in regards to the real reason Chip Kelly decided to part ways with his best receiver.
Kelly was asked Wednesday why he released Jackson in March? He stuck to the status quo and said he likes bigger receivers.
When asked if was Jackson’s off-field issues, Kelly answered with a resounding “zero.”
“Yeah, just trying to build the overall team in terms of what we’re looking for offensively and how we wanted to get bigger at the wideout spot and that’s what we did,” Kelly said.
Jackson’s me first attitude simply didn’t fit with the military style regime Kelly likes to see in his team. Kelly knew he could replace Jackson’s intermediate production with Macklin and Riley Cooper.
The trade for Darren Sproles gave Kelly the big play weapon he needed as well.
