Clemson’s Ryan Norton made a bad snap against number one ranked FSU this weekend with his team less than a yard away from the endzone. The ball bounced back to the 24 yard line and Clemson’s kicker missed a 40-yard field goal attempt to win the game in regulation. Clemson ended up losing 23-17 in overtime. While most Clemson fans might have just cursed at Norton through their television set, some took to social media to make death threats to the young center.
“Coach [Chad] Morris told me [about the threats] last night. That’s disappointing. I think he deleted his account. It’s a shame that young people have to deal with that kind of stuff. Nobody wants to make a bad snap…I think most of it was people mad and venting, but it was threatening to Ryan is what I was told. Those aren’t fans — those are people with issues.”
Yes, these people are taking a game way too seriously. Of course when you take into account how close Clemson was to taking down the number one team in college football, you can understand that a lot of people were just venting through social media where they can say anything they want with no consequences. Let’s just chalk this up to the internet being the internet.
