This is just sad and sickening.
Can we table the fact that an adult teacher was having sex with a teen for a second? Apps such as Grindr and Tindr just really seem creepy in every sense of the word. I know we’ve found a way to make everything easier by using technology but hooking up really doesn’t have to fit into that category.
Situations like this can’t be scarce for members and users of these apps. Picking someone to hook up with by looking at a photo and reading a bio isn’t enough. Sadly in this instance a teenage boy was taken advantage of by a grown man. Even worse this grown man is HIV positive and the teenager could’ve just altered the rest of his life.
The NYDailyNews has the details of the story:
An HIV-positive music teacher was charged with sexual assault after police say he was caught sneaking out of the Texas home of a 15-year-old boy.
McKinney Police said Roger (Joe) Kessler, 43, used the popular guy-only hookup app Grindr to meet the boy, and Kessler admitted to having sex with the teen at least four times, including unprotected sex once, WFAA reported.
The teen’s mom called police on Wednesday to report a burglary when she spotted Kessler trying to leave her home through the backyard. Police arrested Kessler on the felony charge, and he was booked into Collin County Jail on a $250,000 bond.
Kessler, a teacher for 14 years at Richardson ISD Academy, is on administrative leave, the school announced.
The boy is not a student at the school, CBS Local reported. Kessler also didn’t reveal to the boy he had HIV, police said.
These sites and apps have no way of screening the users and it’s up to the people on the site to be responsible enough to know that hooking up with a stranger isn’t safe. the thirst is never THAT real.
