The ‘LeBron coming home’ story has been one of the best an NBA offseason has seen in some time, but make no mistake…LeBron wouldn’t be rejoining his hometown Cavaliers if he didn’t believe they could legitimately contend for top of the eastern conference.
The addition of Kevin Love was absolutely important to the goals of the Cavs organization, however; the NBA is a point guard’s league and LeBron believes Cavaliers point guard Kyrie Irving has what it takes to be the best:
LeBron on Kyrie Irving: “It’s part of the reason I came back… I think he can be the best point guard in our league.” #LEBRON12

While Irving most definitely has the talent to be called the best in the league, his decision-making will be on display in the coming seasons. If he wants to unseat players like Chris Paul, a healthy Derrick Rose and Tony Parker for that title, he’ll need to prove he can quarterback the floor with plenty of talent surrounding him. He will also need to remain on the court and off the injury report.
Kyrie Irving is coming into his own (as further evidenced by his FIBA World Cup performance), so LeBron’s statement isn’t really that far fetched, and with #23’s deep playoff experience to pull from there’s really no limit on just how good Irving can be…Barring injuries of course.
