The NFL said that there was no evidence that the Ray Rice tape was sent to their offices. A league official emailed reporters to respond to the story on Thursday that the police mailed a tape of the Ray Rice incident to the NFL Security Chief Jeffrey Miller.
“Our office has found absolutely no evidence to support the claim of the anonymous ‘law enforcement source’ that he sent a video to the NFL office or that he received a telephone call to his ‘disposable cell phone’ from an unidentified female using an NFL line,” the league said.
We can expect denials to continue coming from the NFL as far as this is concerned. The league is brushing the few pieces of evidence with the brush of doubt and until a video of Roger Goodell or someone close to him sitting and watching the tape leaks out, they will continue to mount the old “deny deny deny” defense. Now we’re forced to debate who is more believable and which is more incompetent, the police or the league. Have fun with that one until harder evidence becomes available to either prove the tape was really sent or received other than someone telling us it was.
