The NFL is currently in negotiations about a rule change that could have Josh Gordon and Wes Welker back on the field sooner than expected.
With the new policy, a positive test would have to consist of at least 50 nanograms per milliliter. Gordon’s sample measured at 16 nanograms, which would be well below the new threshold.
According to Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain Dealer, the NFL’s revised drug policy, if approved, could have Gordon back on the field as early as Week 2.
This case could become difficult because the new league year starts March 11th, but the NFL allegedly knew about Gordon’s situation way back in February. So it’s unclear if the league will handle Gordon based on the new league policy or not.
