While people are worried about which sneaker Nike will design next, the company is thinking about how they’ll continue to improve sports as a whole. Nike and Seattle based designers, Teague, have teamed up to develop jets that specifically cater to sports teams.
“Most airplane design projects are about packaging individuals as efficiently as possible,” says Teague creative director Philipp Steiner. “We’re usually really concerned with the average traveler, but these athletes are far beyond average, and designing for extreme users provides a really interesting perspective.”
The planes feature seats big enough to fit a 7′ center or a 350 lb lineman, jersey numbers on seats instead of row numbers, sleeping quarters, personal touch screen panels, massage areas, and self-serve meal areas. The total number of amenities are too great to list but I do know that teams will find it nearly impossible to compete with Oregon football if Nike provides them with a few of these planes. Can you imagine traveling to games in complete comfort or recruits and their families being flown to Eugene in these hi-tech jets? Nike is truly out to take over the world.
