It is my opinion that Pacquiao, Freddie Roach and Bob Arum know that no one cares about Pacquiao’s upcoming fight against Chris Algieri in November, so the only way they can get any press is to talk about Mayweather 24/7.
You mention $300 million and “serious negotiations” and people will pay attention, but I warn you not to fall for the banana in the tailpipe. It is still highly unlikely that a fight ever takes place, but here is what Pacquiao had to say via the Daily Mail.
Manny Pacquiao has revealed negotiations are underway for a $300m mega-fight with Floyd Mayweather Jr.
Speaking during his press tour to promote his fight with Chris Algieri in November, Pacquiao said: ‘There are serious negotiations with the Mayweather camp and my promoter.’
When asked if the fight would take place in May, he added: ‘Probably for next year.’
Pacquiao’s promoter Bob Arum said recently that he believed the fight could happen twice in 2015.
‘Both [TV] networks want this to happen,’ he said. ‘All signs seem to point to a first fight early next year.
This all sounds great, but so does me dating Jessica Alba, so don’t get your hopes up.
