The good news is that the fight won’t be on PPV. The other good news is that it will be on HBO, so it appears HBO and Golden Boy are back in business together. The bad news is it is a god awful fight. He basically is fighting someone who might have Pens.com on his trunks during the fight. It simply a very safe matchup for Canelo as Clottey doesn’t represent much of a threat to him. It would be consider a major upset if this fight was close at all.
Today ,@GoldenBoyBoxing, @caneloOficial & @HBOboxing will announce Canelo has signed multifight deal with network that begins 12/6. #boxng

The reason for such a soft touch is Canelo wants to fight Miguel Cotto in May of 2015 and that will do massive amount of money, so what they don’t need is a fighter getting in their way of that. Clottey will just accept his check to be a punching bag. Even though Canelo is fighting someone who hasn’t been relevant for years, there still will be ton of fans out to watch him fight, so give the ushers promotional keychain flashlights to make sure everyone gets to their seats ok.
