Serena Williams has just defeated Caroline Wozniacki to win the singles U.S. Open title.
Williams, yet again, won the match without dropping a set, defeating Wozniacki 6-3, 6-3.
Serena has dominated over the last two weeks and has managed to win her 18th grand slam singles championship.
Wozniacki congratulated Williams stating that she is an unbelievable friend and she played better than her and deserved the win.
In her post-match interview, Williams said it was a wonderful feeling, thanks the crowd, her family and friends and goes on to say she couldn’t have imagined her 18th major title win any other way.
By winning her 18th title, she has now entered the ranks of Martina Navratilova and Chris Evert, who have both won exactly 18 as well. Only Margaret Court, Stefi Graff, and Helen Wills Moody have won more with 24, 22 and 19 respectively.
Navratilova and Evert presented Williams with an 18 carat bracelet to celebrate the milestone.
