It’s that time of the week when we talk college football playoffs. There is a new face in the final four this week so lets get to it.
Who’s In?
- Florida State
The defending champs had a bye this past week, no movement for them this week.
- Oregon
The high flying Ducks of Oregon picked up right where they left off last week with a convincing win over Wyoming. The Ducks are averaging 52 PPG so far this year and haven’t scored less than 45. Marcus Mariota has the offense firing on all cylinders.
- Alabama
The Crimson Tide made quick work of Southern Miss this past weekend as they get prepared for their first SEC test when Florida comes to town. One thing to keep an eye on going forward is the run game, with the two headed monster of TJ Yeldon and Derrick Henry I’ve expected more production, but have yet to get it. Part to blame is the offensive line not being as dominant as in year’s past to this point, but I expect that to change as the year continues on.
- Oklahoma
Bob Stoops put more bullets in the chamber to use against SEC coaches and fans after notching a double digit win over Tennessee on Saturday. Up next is a tough road trip to Morganstown to square off against West Virginia and they will have to make the trip without top rusher Keith Ford.
Who’s Out?
- Auburn
I have the Tigers on the fringe this week even though they were on bye. They have a chance to be right back in the mix with a win over Kansas State this weekend in Manhattan.
- Texas A&M
The Aggies took care of business against Rice this weekend and continue to put up points and that shouldn’t change with a road trip to SMU on the schedule.
- Baylor
The Bears got on the scoreboard early and often against Buffalo and they may have found a new star in freshmen wide receiver K.D. Cannon. As good as the Bears have looked on offense, it’s Shawn Oakman and their defense that could end up being the difference between making the playoff and sitting at home and watching it. I think the Bears have a real chance to make some noise this year.
