The Ohio State Buckeyes have thrived this season despite losing starting QB Braxton Miller. Although not always perfect, the Buckeyes haven’t looked terrible with freshman QB JT Barrett at the helm, and it’s starting to raise some questions as to what happens in 2015 when Miller has recovered from injuries.
“Braxton is our quarterback,” Meyer told reporters. “To be fair to Braxton, Big Ten Player of the Year. But it’s good to know we’ve got both of them.”
Miller was lost for the year when he tore the labrum in his right shoulder at the beginning of the 2014 season. Barrett has kept the Buckeyes relevant at 3-1 this season, so far throwing for over 1000 yards and 13 TDs. However, that doesn’t mean Barrett is taking over according to Meyer.
This sounds good now, but the decision becomes much more difficult if Barrett keeps winning and leads the Buckeyes to a respectable 1-loss season. Add that all up with the fact that Meyer has been known to wiggle his way out of a situation with a little white lie here and there. Time will tell. For now, Meyer is giving the usual coaching lip service. In the meantime, Drew Bledsoe knows how you feel Braxton.
