There are plenty of great shooting guards in the NBA, but who is truly the best two-way guard going today. Who in the NBA can get a bucket anytime they want, and shutdown the top guards around.
Names like Lance Stephenson, Joe Johnson, Arron Afflalo, DeMar DeRozan, Eric Bledsoe, Bradley Beal and Klay Thompson come to mind.
Portland Trail Blazers guard Wesley Johnson is crying foul and believes his name should be ahead of all the rest. Matthews thinks he’s the best two-way guard in the NBA.
“Do I think I’m All-Defense? Absolutely. I think I’m the best two-way two-guard in the NBA. But I feel like we need to be a good defensive team within the scheme of the game. We’re not out there gambling, trying to reach and get steals. That would put us in a bind if I don’t get it,” Matthews said.
Matthews averaged 17.4 points a game and shot almost 40 percent from three last season. While his offensive numbers get overlooked by teammate Damian Lillard, Matthews is as good as advertised on the defensive end.
