The poster above is fan made but according to UFC president Dana White it will soon become a reality.
Jose Aldo will defend his featherweight title against Chad Mendes to headline UFC 179 at the end of October and if he’s successful “The Notorious” Conor McGregor will get the next title shot.
Here’s what White had to say when asked about the matchup:
“Here’s the thing: If you go down the list, every one of those guys has fought Jose Aldo already,” White told UFC.com. “Conor hasn’t. So who do you line up next for the champ other than Conor? Everybody else has fought him.”
Well Dana, it makes sense to me. Let’s be honest, fans are going to flock to any McGregor fight after his performance at UFC 178. Having him headline a PPV and have a shot at the title just sweetens the deal.
This is the fight MMA fans want to watch and it will become a reality if Aldo handles business against Mendes.
