Well it seems the alleged player in the Gloria Allred press conference from last week has been named.
According to the New York Daily News, Dallas Cowboys special team ace C.J. Spillman is currently being investigated for a sexual assault.
The alleged attack occurred at the team’s hotel on Sept. 20. Spillman, was then allowed to play the next day (the alleged attack happened after midnight on Friday, the Cowboys left for Saint Louis Saturday morning).
The attack allegedly came just a day after NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell”s sloppy domestic violence press conference held in New York.
Police in Grapevine, Texas, told the Daily News that C.J. Spillman, 28, is “involved” in the investigation of a sexual assault that allegedly took place at the Gaylord Texan Resort and Convention Center, the Cowboys’ official hotel since 2009,
“We have a sexual assault report we are investigating at this time, and it does involve C.J. Spillman,” said Sgt. Robert Eberling, a police spokesman. “He is involved in the investigation. We are looking into the matter.”
Spillman is a highly thought of special teams player. It will definitely be interesting to see if the Cowboys allow due process to play out, or if he’s benched and deactivated until more information is gathered.
It should be noted that Spillman hasn’t been charged or arrested of anything, so until more details are known he should be given the benefit of the doubt.
Considering how quickly Gloria Allred became involved, you can not rule out this might be a set up or publicity stunt. If legitimate evidence arises that Spillman has done something wrong we will be the sure to update.
