With week 6 of the NFL season about to be in effect, Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay’s ban from the organization is nearly over.
According to Bleacher Report, Adam Schefter says Irsay is eligible to return to the team after the Colts’ Thursday Night game vs. the Houston Texans.
In September, after pleading guilty to driving under the influence, Irsay was suspended six games and fined $500,000 by the NFL.
This incident occurred after he was already arrested in March for four preliminary felony counts of possession of a controlled substance and two misdemeanor counts of operating a vehicle while intoxicated.
In June, Irsay spoke with Indy Star’s Bob Kravitz about dealing with alcoholism.
It’s an ongoing thing in one’s life when recovering from any disease. The disease never sleeps so you have to be proactive when dealing with it. But the journey is great because it forces you to grow spiritually. There’s a lot of gratitude and spiritual growth. And it’s rewarding because it makes you more virtuous when you have success.
Irsay was not permitted to have any contact with the Colts during his suspension and was also banned from using social media in any relation to the team or the NFL.
The Colts are off to a pretty good start, with Andrew Luck improving each game. With a win on Thursday, they will take first place in the AFC South, but it will be a tough game against J. J. Watt and the Texans.
