For those of us who have went to college, we understand Johnny Football’s pain. No one wants to go to class, but there is a big difference between college life and the real world. You start to understand that difference about a week after you leave college.
I’ve been wanting to go back for over a decade now. If I had a time machine, I wouldn’t go back to high school, I’d start with the first day of college at my Alma Mater The Ohio State University. Manziel was reminiscing a bit to the Cleveland media and here is what he had to say via Cleveland.com.
“I don’t think I miss school,” said Manziel. “But I miss those guys in the locker room. I miss Coach Sumlin. I think it’s fair for me to say that I miss college life, but this is the decision that I made. And I knew very well going into the draft last year that it was going to be different for me and going to be a time for me to grow up. That’s the path I chose. And if I wanted to stay in college and sleep in and go to class and horse around like I was doing the past couple years, then I should have stayed.”
“They’ve got a lot of other things going on. In college, you’re in the same class with some of the guys, you’re doing the same things on campus, you’re doing the same things outside of football, too. I feel like you’re a lot more of a tight-knit group in college, but at the same time, there’s still a lot of love in this locker room and a lot of that in an NFL locker room I still feel.”
Manziel went back to A&M during his bye week and you could really tell he missed the atmosphere. Not as fun holding a clipboard watching Hoyer play every Sunday. Maybe, something he can talk to Jameis Winston about when they have their chat.
