It’s not even half-way through the NFL season and already the League has been sitting on a goldmine from fines and suspensions handed out.
According to CPA Robert Raiola, the total amount that players have forked over from fines and suspensions is a whopping $21, 529, 652.50 vs just $10.5 million from last season.
To put things in perspective, Arizona Cardinals linebacker Daryl Washington has handed over $3 million stemming from a season long suspension for repeat violations to the NFL substance abuse policy. Then you add up things like Colin Kaepernick’s $10,000 fine for wearing Beats headphones and you see how the seemingly unreal total came to be.
The only year which saw total fines even close to this figure was 2012, which had a total of $18.1 million FOR THE SEASON. The NFL season has a long ways to go.
