San Jose police handed San Francisco 49ers defensive end Ray McDonald’s investigation and case over to prosecutors. The prosecutors will determine if there will be any charges filed and if there are, what he will be charged with.
McDonald was arrested at his home on Aug. 31 on “suspicion of felony domestic violence.
Police in San Jose declined to release any information about the arrest beyond a brief synopsis in which police described a female victim having “visible injuries.”
Sean Webby, a spokesman for the district attorney’s office, told USA TODAY Sports there is no set timeline for prosecutors to make a determination on charges.
Prosecutors canceled an arraignment that was scheduled for Sept. 29 because police had not completed their investigation. A new court date won’t be scheduled until – and if – formal charges are filed.
