I disagree with how Adrian Peterson beat his 4-year-old son, but that is a personal opinion, in regard to the law if he is found innocent I don’t think any additional punishment from the NFL is needed. There is a big difference in getting a plea deal to stay out of jail and being found not guilty. ESPN is reporting it likely won’t matter the outcome of Peterson’s trial that he will be suspended without pay.
If Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson is found not guilty of a felony child abuse charge in Texas, he could still face a personal conduct suspension without pay from the NFL, according to sources.
One area of consensus that was reaffirmed in last week’s league meetings is that violation of workplace rules and personal conduct should not require a conviction, the sources said.
Goodell has done this before most notably with Ben Roethlisberger who was accused of rape several times, but never charged or arrested in any crime. Even though there was a lot of evidence that Big Ben did something, I still think it is wrong to punish people never even charged with a crime. Peterson has been charged, we will see if he is innocent or guilty in court of law.
