It has been rumored that Southern California will have a NFL team within the next two years and lately it seems as though it may be more than just a rumor.
According to Yard Barker and Pro Football Talk, the league has reason to believe there will be a team within the next two years.
As the 20th anniversary of the NFL’s departure from Los Angeles, the NFL seems closer than ever to returning. Per a league source, the current plan is that the NFL will send one or two teams back to Los Angeles within the next 12 to 24 months.
There are three teams likely to return to Los Angeles: the St. Louis Rams, Oakland Raiders, and San Diego Chargers. The Rams can get out of their lease in St. Louis after this year, the Oakland Raiders do not have a lease with the Oakland Coliseum after this season, and the Chargers would pay a minimal fee that would definitely be worth their while.
All three teams have been going through stadium issues and with no talk of expansion teams, it’s more than likely that one of these teams will be in Southern California before we know it.
