Kirk Cousins had his chance and he blew it. Doesn’t matter if people say you are a “better fit” for an offense if you are turnover machine. It would be kind to Cousins to say he was average as a starter, he had plenty of opportunities to take the job away from RG3 and didn’t get it done.
So, now even the Cousins supports begrudgingly will have to accept RG3 as the starter when it is healthy.
“Once they say he’s healthy and he practices with us, and we feel like he’s ready to go mentally and we have a good game plan for him, then he’ll be the starter,” Gruden said. “But I don’t know when that will be yet. It’s hard for me to project. It could be one week, two weeks. It could be five weeks.”
The Redskins won’t rush him back and they shouldn’t. Rushing him back in his rookie season is what got them in this predicament in the first place.
