It isn’t the type of thing you expect players to say is true even if it is true. Mike Freeman of Bleacher Report is a long time and well respected NFL journalist, so it is my belief he wouldn’t have reported it unless he had a concrete source.
When the Seahawks were asked about it, they denied there is any rift with their franchise quarterback.
“Until someone in this locker actually says something negative [about Wilson], we just take that with a grain of salt,” cornerback Richard Sherman said. “Anyone can make up anything and say a source said it. I don’t think anybody on this team feels that way. We support our quarterback. He fights for us every game.”
“About me not being black enough, I don’t even know what that means,” Wilson said. “People were trying to find ways to knock us down and distract us, but there’s no doubt we’re more together than ever before.
“We’re probably the closest we’ve ever been. We keep swinging and we keep believing in each other and our coaching staff.”
Sherman doesn’t know what all the players are saying off the record, he may feel that way, but that doesn’t mean others don’t feel a different way.
The Seahawks struggled but defeated the Panthers. They are learning what it is like to be the champs, uneasy lies the head that wears the crown.
