There are a lot of ways to help your marketability, add a little edge to your personality and bring some sizzle to your life, but I am 100% sure the one way you don’t want that to happened is by being accused of rape.
Live TV can be hard and sometimes you can’t articulate exactly what you are trying to say. I know what Skip Bayless was trying to say, he just worded it horribly. I believe what he is trying to say is that after Kobe was accused of rape, the facade of him being this perfect person was lifted and that made him more relatable to certain people specifically the young urban market. Is that true or not is up for debate.
People prefer Honest Kobe to fake Kobe, but there is no positive in being accused of rape and Bryant regardless if you believe he did anything or not, will never be able to shake that from his history. If he had a choice of not being able to sell sneakers or never being accused of rape, I am sure he would pick the latter.
Curiously, I wonder if Stephen A. how much different this would play out within ESPN? I guess we will see.
