Two days after a heated altercation between Cowboy teammates Dez Bryant and Joseph Randle, the men seem to be moving forward and putting their differences to the side.
“It’s OK,” Bryant said after Sunday’s loss to the Arizona Cardinals. “I had my talk with him. There are certain things you just don’t do. We fixed it. We’re good. That’s my little buddy.”
The disagreement started after Randle was seen on video telling the cops Dez Bryant slapped his own mother while he was being arrested for stealing cologne and underwear.
Bryant was furious that Randle had mentioned the receiver’s July 2012 incident with his mother that led to a misdemeanor family violence charge that was later dismissed. The video from the Frisco, Texas, city jail obtained by KDFW-TV and aired Thursday evening showed Randle wondering aloud whether he would be suspended when he said, “Dez didn’t miss no games for slapping his mama.”
Randle also referenced defensive tackle Josh Brent‘s December 2012 arrest for intoxication manslaughter, noting that Brent was “still up in the locker room” and adding that driving drunk was “stupid.” Brent, who sat out last season while dealing with legal issues that included a 180-day jail sentence, is serving an NFL suspension that will end after next week.
“I understood how he felt in that situation,” Bryant said. “I can see him doing that. I can see that — trying not to flip out in a situation like that. He made a mistake, and you forgive people. That’s what you do.”
I understand that Randle was very nervous about losing his job after being caught shoplifting but to try to take the heat off of himself and put it on his teammates was very immature and might I add “KOBEsque”. I think Dez is putting on a strong, united front for the media but I think he would suplex Randle the first opportunity.
