Here is the direct quote that is attributed to Waiters.
When Dion Waiters was absent on the Cleveland Cavaliers’ bench prior to Wednesday night’s game against the Utah Jazz, many fans wondered if something was wrong. On Friday night, Waiters clarified the reason for said absence: He observed his Muslim beliefs.
“It’s because of my religion,” Waiters revealed, per Chris Haynes of the Northeast Ohio Media Group. “That’s why I stayed in the locker room.”
Here is Waiters today.

If someone says I didn’t go out because of my religious beliefs and then that is reported as such, I am not sure how you can say they made it up.
Waiters just seems to be going through some things and maybe a trade out of Cleveland would be for the best.
