If Pacquiao and Roach think they are going to get Mayweather in the ring by calling him names and shaming him in the public, they don’t know Mayweather very well.
That is the tactic they are using, so far it hasn’t been very effective, here is what Roach had to say via ESPN.
“I’m going to have to tell Manny don’t beat up Algieri too bad because Mayweather will run even more,” Roach said. “He’s scared of us now, and he’s going to be more scared of us after we destroy this guy. Mayweather, you know, show some balls and step up to the plate.”
“He’s been talking more and more about Floyd,” Roach said. “The more time goes by, the more he talks about it. Manny wants the fight badly. After seeing Floyd’s last couple fights, he wants him even more. He just wants to prove he’s the best fighter in the world and he’ll take that zero and give him his first one.”
While Mayweather deserves a lot of the blame in recent years, one can’t forget that the original fight in 2009 was signed, sealed and delivered, but Pacquiao wouldn’t agree to the drug testing. While he has changed his stance on that, Mayweather got himself a cushy deal with Showtime and doesn’t seem that pressed to fight Pacquiao.
