Maryland senior Dez Wells will miss four weeks after suffering a broken bone in his right wrist during Maryland’s victory over Iowa State on Tuesday night in Kansas City, the team announced.
Wells underwent surgery to repair the injury on Friday in Baltimore.
“Dez has been playing at a very high level, and we will certainly miss our team leader,” head coach Mark Turgeon said. “I am extremely disappointed for Dez because I know how hard he has worked in the offseason to prepare for his senior season.”
As for Wells, he has been Maryland’s leading scorer so far this season with 16.2 points per game.
