After trading Percy Harvin to the Jets, the Seahawks reached out to Randy Moss to see if he would consider joining the team, but that wasn’t a go on Moss’ end. In fact, Moss wants everyone to know that him not playing isn’t because he’s physically unable to do so. Moss says it’s quite the opposite. He insists that he’s still in great shape, but would only consider a return to the NFL if he were playing with a QB of the Peyton Manning variety.
“…but while on Fox Sports’ “The Peter Schrager Podcast” last week, he didn’t rule out an NFL return — so long as it was with a certain quarterback.
“I’m gonna tell you this, for me to come out of retirement for a player such as Peyton Manning, I would consider that,” Moss said. “I really would consider it. I’m still in great shape, I can still run. I’m not the most old, but just by looking at the things I see on Sundays, I can still go out there and catch some passes and catch some touchdowns.
What about your old team Randy? The Patriots were looking bleak at the WR position earlier this season. The offense has since come around, but I’m sure Brady wouldn’t mind throwing to Moss again. Moss insists him leaving the NFL was never about money or physical ability. On Tuesday, Moss appeared on ESPN’s “Pardon the Interruption” and was asked again by Tony Kornheiser and Michael Wilbon if the rumors of him considering coming out of retirement to play with Manning were true.
“The one thing that people don’t understand, guys, is one day I will hopefully get to tell my story of why I retired from the game of football,” Moss said. “It had nothing to do with the money, it had nothing to do with my physical ability. There were some things going on in my family life, going on with my children that I had to walk away from the game and be there for them as their father and as their protector.
“So for me to be able to say that I still miss the game, I still love the game — I’m loving what I’m doing here at Fox, don’t get it wrong — but for me to be able to come back to the game for a guy like Tom Brady or Peyton Manning, guys, I might consider something like that.
“But believe me, I’m loving and enjoying what I’m doing what now. It was just a question and I answered it the best way I knew how.”
Let’s see if Elway takes this seriously. It would be nice to see unsuspecting cornerbacks get “Mossed” again.
