The next few months will probably see a lot of rumors or reports regarding Braxton Miller’s status at Ohio State. JT Barrett has slid very comfortably into the seat of starting QB for the Buckeyes, and with the uncertainty of Miller’s arm, why wouldn’t the Buckeyes stick with Barrett? He fits nicely into the role for the Buckeyes, and he has plenty of years left to grow more comfortable into the Buckeyes offense.
Of course, nothing is confirmed, but where there’s smoke, there’s usually fire. We will see what Braxton Miller decides to do with his eligibility, but it appears that Buckeyes fans are buying into JT Barrett. If Miller is seriously considering a transfer a la Russell Wilson, then other programs who are either lacking now, or will be lacking next season, at the QB role should get a hard look. Texas and Florida State immediately come to mind.
Miller would make a nice fit at Oregon. There is no doubt. However, a move like this should be carefully taken under consideration. Miller may want to consider a move because at this point, he needs to prove to NFL scouts that he can last through a full college football season before any team would want to spend money on him as a draft pick. The last two seasons have been a wash for him due to the same shoulder injury. With JT Barrett and the Buckeyes offense meshing so well, many would say that Urban Meyer would just stay with Barrett? After all, in addition to thriving this season, Barrett remains without serious injury.
Time will tell what Braxton Miller’s final decision will be, but in the end, a move to another major college program may just be what he needs to make his mark for the next move to the professional level.
