Brian Hoyer is in a pretty good position regardless of who the Cleveland Browns decide to make the face of their franchise.
Hoyer will either receive a long term deal to remain in a city that’s dear to his heart. Or he’ll cash out and ride his wave of momentum into a huge deal for an organization that really wants him.
Adam Schefter is reporting that the Texans and Titans could be among a handful of teams showing interest in Hoyer.
Brian Hoyer and Bill O’Brien worked together in past and have an interest in doing same in future, per league sources. Hoyer trusts O’Brien as much as any coach in the league from their time together in New England, per sources, and would welcome a reunion. Titans HC Ken Whisenhunt, who worked with Hoyer in Arizona, also has interst, per sources. Cleveland has been in wait-and-see mode on Hoyer, whose contract expires after this season. Some around the league believe the deal could get done only as soon as the Browns truly are ready to make Hoyer, not Johnny Manziel, their long-term quarterback.
Bill O’Brien coach Hoyer in New England, and the two reportedly have an excellent relationship. Schefter also mentions the Titans as a possibility, as coach Ken Whisenhunt had Hoyer in Arizona.
