San Francisco 49ers LB Ahmad Brooks was benched for the game on Sunday against the Raiders due to being punished for missing a team meeting. Brooks has made 60 consecutive regular starts, but coach Jim Harbaugh apparently doesn’t take missing team meetings lightly. Or does he? Here is what Brooks had to say about being benched.
“No, I don’t agree,” Brooks said of the decision, per Eric Branch of SFGate.com. “But I’m just a player. I’m just a number. I’m not the only one that’s ever missed anything. Of course, there’s been other people that have missed, or been late or whatever. But I’m not here to point fingers. I own up to my responsibilities. I wasn’t there.”
This isn’t the first time there have been differences between Brooks on the 49ers. Last month, he benched himself during a game against the Rams because he didn’t want to split time with Aldon Smith and Aaron Lynch. It just seems that Brooks and the organization are likely to part ways.
Of course, if Brooks’ beef is with Harbaugh and not the organization, there could be a chance that he stays if the team decides to let Harbaugh go as rumors are suggesting.
