The first thing that should be said is that no one deserves to killed who isn’t presenting a threat to anyone. It is a simple belief that I’d like to think most people in our society regardless of their race believe in.
No one who is rational and wants things to get better would encourage violence against anyone. That doesn’t accomplish anything except making things worse. The sociopath who shot his girlfriend and then murdered two innocent cops I hope he burns in hell. His motivation be it Eric Garner’s death or not isn’t an excuse. In fact it is a weak cop up from a weak minded individual. You can not use one persons insane actions and throw a blanket over the millions of individuals who are protesting against legitimate issues in law enforcement.
Which leads us to Ed Werder. This is what you calls pouring gasoline on a grease fire while also showing complete ignorance to the bigger problem at hand.
One thing that makes me shake my head about these type of tweets is the person inability to understand that criminals come in all races, shape, form and sizes. The police are supposed to protect us from those criminals, we aren’t supposed to fear the police and worry about them killing us. It is two totally different things than have a career criminal commit a crime and someone whose job it is to serve and protect commit a crime (then never get indicted for it).
Furthermore, if Werder took any time out to actually look he would see many people currently rallying around law enforcement and a lot of those people are minorities, the cops themselves were minorities. Many of the people on social media are expressing outrage about this crime because this isn’t who we are as a society.
If Werder took the time out to get off his high horse and think clearly, he would know murders like this doesn’t help minorities, it hurts us because now we have to be on an even more heighten alert. Why would the police give us the benefit of the doubt when they are being executed? It is a Catch-22, we are scared of them because they are scared of us. It disgust us when we are trying to make a change and one coward makes our job to do so 100x harder.
When a white person commits a crime, it is just that person that is judged. When a minority commits a crime especially in the times we are living it now, it affects us all and how we are perceived. Did Werder even think the reason people are upset is that when we die why are left in the middle of street, we aren’t given CPR when it could save our lives or let go when we save we can’t breath? I hope the murdered police officers are honored to the fullest, I feel awful for their family and friends and if Ed wants to start a protest against real criminals of all races, not stereotyped ones, I will stand by his side proudly. If Ed wants to also mention protesting against domestic violence since the shooter also shot his girlfriend I will be right there with him. If Werder wants to have a candlelit vigil to promote peace between the police and community, I think it might shock him who shows up.
Until then, please Ed save your trolling and realize there are bigger things going on here than asking who should be protesting what.
