The Jets are staring at a 3-12 record so far for the 2014 season, and it’s likely major changes are coming during the offseason. However, one person remains confident that he is still the answer that the team needs at the QB position. Although Geno Smith has 34 interceptions and 6 lost fumbles in 29 NFL games, he still thinks that he has what it takes to lead the Jets back to redemption.
”I see myself being the quarterback here for a long time,” he said Wednesday. ”I see myself helping this team turn things around. Obviously, I’m a part of the reason why we’re in this position, so I’d love to be a part of the solution.”
”I know that it takes hard work and not everyone is going to see the same things, but within this locker room, within this group of guys, we all see the potential we have as a team,” Smith said. ”Obviously, that’s not saying much with the record that we have right now, but we believe that if we work hard enough and we do what’s right, we can turn things around.”
Many people seem to think that changes for the Jets may also include a change at GM, which doesn’t bode well for Smith’s chances to remain in New York. Unfortunately for Geno, he may never get the chance to prove to Jets fans that he can indeed lead their team.
