Lauren Hill, the Mt. St. Joseph freshman basketball player diagnosed with inoperable brain cancer before her first collegiate season; is being checked into Hospice, according to a Facebook post by her family on her Fight for Cure page:
“Monday we signed on with Hospice. Originally this was planned to be done at the end of October or Early November but got side barred due to the big game. We are excited to have additional resources coming to our home. We have already been able to get supplies to help make things easier here at home” the post reads.
The “big game” the post is referring to is Hill’s one-and-only collegiate start earlier this season. It had been her goal to gather enough strength to take the floor with her teammates, if only once.
While it’s sad that it appears Lauren’s life is nearing it’s end, we all should take a moment to recognize how important enjoying every moment is to her. She had a goal, and even in the midst of battling a terrible disease, she chased, and attained it with a smile on her face. Prayers go out to her and her family as she continues her journey and her fight.
