It’s not Emmitt Smith’s all time rushing record, but LeSean McCoy is set to ensure his place in Philadelphia Eagles history.
McCoy needs another 48 to pass Wilbert Montgomery as the team’s all-time leading rusher and could surpass him in front of the home crowd when the Eagles host Seattle, Sunday at Lincoln Financial Field.
“It’s cool. It really is,” McCoy said. “I never thought when I got drafted here that I would hold the rushing record. That’s big. That’s something I’m looking forward to doing. The No. 1 goal is still to win the game, but if there’s a way to do both that would be great.”
This season, McCoy (6491) moved past Steve Van Buren (5,860) and Brian Westbrook (5,995). Last year he passed Duce Staley (4,807).
