If you thought the DeSean Jackson release was a big deal in Chip Kelly’s, wait until this offseason when has to decided if LeSean McCoy is still worth the huge contract he has.
Speaking after his team’s 34-26 win over the New York Giants on Sunday, the Eagles running back was very open about the possibility that he might have played his last game with the team that drafted him in 2009.
“We’ll see,” McCoy said. “I can’t control it.”
The Eagles might release him next season due to a contract that is set to pay him $9.7 million, with a cap hit of $11.95 million.
McCoy, who finished third in the NFL in rushing, says he tries not to think about it.
“You think about it,” McCoy said. “I would be lying if I said I never thought about it. I don’t know. I really don’t know.”
It was also mark the second-year in a row that the Eagles released a guy fresh off of a Pro Bowl season.
