That has to be an odd feeling in pro locker rooms when a reporter ask you a question about a teammate you actually compete with on a daily basis.
It makes you wonder about the true dept of Geno Smith and Michael Vick’s relationship. Vick was asked by reporters about his future with the Jets. Vick of course said he’d let his agent and Jets management handle that.
Meaning he wants to play, but the Jets are a mess. Vick was then asked about the status of Geno Smith with the Jets next season.
Vick was honest again, when he said he wasn’t sure if the Jets would proceed with Smith as their option at quarterback.
“I wouldn’t know. Honestly, I wouldn’t know,” he said. “Hopefully, whoever is doing the evaluations can see what they need to see. … There’s some room for improvement. There is with all of us in this locker room.”
After saying that, Vick added: “Don’t misconstrue that.”
He then praised Smith.
“I think Geno has a lot of potential to be a great quarterback in this league,” he said. “For some guys, it takes more time. There’s a lot of different moving parts that goes along with a quarterback being successful.”
“Don’t Misconstrue” means I just took a shot at Geno, but I really don’t know if the Jets will move on.
