A woman was shot and two NYPD police officers were murdered yesterday by a man named Ismaaiyl Brinsley. It was a horrific crime and unspeakable tragedy that no one would wish upon anyone.
Because of tension between law enforcement and communities where some cops are abusing their power, people are trying to lump and link all these events together in one thread. It simply isn’t that simple. Criminals of any race should be brought to justice. In an ideal world that criminal wouldn’t cause stereotypes to be given to an entire race or religion. Law enforcement is here to protect and serve not treat individuals many who are innocent as potential threats.
Athletes should be able to support and protest whom they please without being called pathetic or being asked to apologize. Nick Mangold showing support and Andrew Hawkins showing support in what they believe in should be seen as their equal rights. Just keep that in mind next time you want to pick and choose who would be making a political statement with their attire.
