Colorado State coach Jim McElwain is reportedly the head candidate for the Florida coaching job.
According to Yahoo Sports, McElwain and Florida athletic director Jeremy Foley discussed the Florida position Saturday night.
It wasn’t said how many other candidates there are, but it has also been rumored that Mississippi coach Hugh Freeze was on the list as well.
Some aspects that may have differentiated McElwain from others are that he has Southeastern Conference experience, and that he is a former Nick Saban assistant coach at Alabama where he worked as the offensive coordinator and receivers coach from 2008-2011 when Alabama won two national titles.
Accordng to the Denver Port, McElwain has a reported $7.5 million buyout.
