There has been a flurry of moves in Major League Baseball this offseason with teams scurrying to put together squads good enough to just get into the dance at the end of the season.
The San Francisco Giants have gotten off to a slow start in terms of player acquisitions but have made a move that will perhaps go under the radar but can prove pivotal a few months from now.
The Miami Marlins have traded third baseman Casey McGehee to the San Francisco Giants, CBS Sports’ Jon Heyman reports.
Hunter Strickland and Matt Duffy could be part of the potential deal, FOX Sports’ Ken Rosenthal says. It is currently unclear exactly what the Marlins are getting in return, however. Marlins reporter Joe Frisaro is projected two minor-league pitchers are coming back the other way.
McGehee was named the NL Comeback Player of the year last season after hitting .287 with four home runs and 76 RBIs.
