I am a Tony Romo apologist, and won’t apologize for fighting for the reputation of a man who will go down as one of the all-time underappreciated guys in NFL history.
With a 25-yard touchdown pass in the third quarter, Tony Romo became the Dallas Cowboys’ all-time leader in passing yards, surpassing Hall of Famer Troy Aikman.
He fittingly set the record on a touchdown strike to tight end Jason Witten down the middle of the field to give the Cowboys a 35-0 lead against the Colts. It was Romo’s fourth touchdown pass of the game.
Romo needed 190 yards to pass Aikman, who had 32,942 yards in his career, entering the game.
Romo is second to Aikman in pass attempts and completions but he now holds the record for yards and touchdowns. Aikman has 4,715 attempts and 2,898 completions.
