The NFL has been known in the past as for their forgive and forget mentality, so this should come as no surprise to anyone. Adam Schefter is now reporting 6 teams have been doing “background work” on Adrian Peterson, just in case he doesn’t stay with the Vikings for the 2015 season.
The Vikings, however, remain firm that they want Peterson to return to the team. Both Zimmer and Speilman have insisted that they stand behind Peterson when he can return to the NFL. Meanwhile, Peterson is set to begin his community service and counseling that was stipulated in his plea agreement. He is also issued to take monthly drug tests after he admitted to smoking weed in October.
The Vikings have to look at all aspects of bringing Peterson back, including the PR repercussions of having his child abuse case. Peterson’s future in the NFL depend largely on his behavior over the next few months. If he crosses all his t’s and dots all his i’s, don’t be surprised when you see him suited up in August.
