Some people believe that OJ should be stripped of his Heisman and HOF status, but I always say what you do after you retire should have no bearing on what you did on the field. Because, if it did, we would have to take a lot of awards back from a lot of players.
OJ’s Heisman was stolen from USC back in 1994 and now the cops believe they know who has it.
The cold case became hot in November when a man called USC, saying he had purchased the trophy from a friend years ago and wanted to authenticate it. The USC folks determined the guy did indeed have the Heisman, but cops didn’t believe his story … they think he’s the crook.
So LAPD detectives went to court last month and got a warrant to track the guy down and nab the items.
He can’t be prosecuted … the statute of limitations has long since run.
When a player wins the Heisman they get a trophy and the school gets an exact replica, OJ’s was sold at auction after he lost his civil suit in the deaths of Ron Goldman and Nicole Brown-Simpson.
