A former University of South Carolina and NFL football player has been charged in connection with a chop shop investigation.
Lance Laury, 33, is charged with five counts of chop shops, possession of a stolen vehicle, and two counts of receiving stolen goods.
Laury played linebacker for the Gamecocks in the early 2000s and then played for the Seahawks and the Jets in the NFL.
Dorchester County deputies say a wrecker that was being used to steal vehicles and a stolen Ford F-350 out of Sylvania, Georgia were linked back to Laury.
According to investigators, Laury has the stolen vehicle’s registration changed to his name.
When officers got a search warrant for Laury’s home, they say they found stolen items worth a total of $150,000 in storage sheds on his property, including mowers, a motorcycle, and utility trailers.
