Manny Pacquiao gave Floyd Mayweather a deadline, and he appears to be moving on. According to the New York Daily News is reporting that Pacquiao flew to London for business, and met with Amir Khan and his reps.
Pacquiao had previously vowed to never fight Khan because they share trainer Freddy Roach. Pacquiao was in London meeting with Prince Harry on Thursday and Friday.
Pacquiao and his entourage met with Khan at Fitzroy Lodge Amateur Boxing club in London.
The Daily Mail characterized the talks between Pacquiao and Khan as “informal man-to-man discussions about an alternative superbout in case Floyd Mayweather fails to call either of them for his next megafight.”
In a strange twist, Khan has also given Mayweather a deadline of “mid-January” that has already passed, according to the Daily Mail, to fight him or he’s moving on, as well, setting up a potential fight with Pacquiao.
“Just in case Floyd doesn’t come through we regard Amir as the best possible alternative,” Pacquiao advisor Michael Koncz told the Daily Mail. “He and Manny would make for a very exciting fight and Manny would be more than happy to do it at Wembley stadium. We are looking at that possibility and also Abu Dhabi as another potential venue. But of course we are still working on Mayweather.”
