We all thought that we’d get to see UFC featherweight champion Jose Aldo face top contender Conor McGregor at UFC 187 in May but new information has the fight possibly delayed until the July card.
Conor’s trainer, John Kavanagh, told fans to wait before purchasing tickets because nothing is set in stone:
“It’s not 100-percent yet. There was talk of a May date. It may now actually be later in the year,” said Kavanagh. “I get a lot of tweets and messages, people wanting to book their flights. I would just say hold on, hold on until the UFC officially announces. But it does look like it’ll be later in the year.”
This leaves a pretty big hole for the UFC to fill during their Memorial Day weekend card. The only other possible headliner I can think of is a Rashad Evans/Alexander Gustafsson vs Daniel Cormier fight.
We will see if the UFC stands by their original timetable or if in fact they move the fight back a few months.
