This is one loyal Seahawks fan if the numbers and report are true. After Jermaine Kearse caught the game-winning touchdown pass from Russell Wilson in overtime to send the Seahawks to their second straight Super Bowl, he threw the ball into the stands.
Scott Shelton, 32, was the lucky fan who managed to get his hands on the coveted keepsake and he isn’t letting go — not even for $20,000.
That’s right, a sports memorabilia dealer offered Shelton $20K for the victory ball, but Shelton said the only reason he’d part ways with the ball would be to return it to Kearse.
My phone rings, and it was Jermaine! Jermaine Kearse, you know? The Man! We were just talking about the game. He told me he wanted to trade his game helmet signed by the team and his jersey, for the ball. And then he asked me what (else) I wanted for the ball. And I said ‘honestly, it would be nice to go see you guys whip New England in the Super Bowl.’ So he’s going to see what he can do about that. But I told him I wouldn’t give it up unless it was going to him. I wouldn’t want anyone else to have it.
